A position is available for a senior research technician in the CNAP Molecular Breeding Unit in the Department of Biology, to join an industrially funded research programme aimed at metabolic engineering of plants and microbial strains for industrial applications.

The work will primarily involve the use of molecular markers in breeding programmes and large-scale reverse genetic screens for mutations in genes underlying relevant metabolic pathways and traits using our established in-house Heteroduplex Mapping technology platform.

This position represents an excellent opportunity to work on applied and strategically relevant projects that rely on state-of-the-art molecular biology and phenotyping technologies.? You should be a team worker, have a degree in biology or related discipline, a sound understanding of microbiology and molecular biology and practical experience in a range of molecular biology techniques, ideally including high throughput DNA-based screening and genotyping methods.

The post is full time and is available immediately, or as soon as possible, for a period of up to 24 months.? Salary will be within the range ?23,352 to ?28,685 per annum.??
