As part of the City of Pasadena?s 11th annual celebration of its ?One City, One Story? program, Pasadena City College will host author Karen Thompson Walker on Thursday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon in Creveling Lounge.?
The author will share her experiences writing The Age of Miracles, a New York Times bestseller and this year?s selection for Pasadena?s ?One City, One Story? community reading celebration.
Described as luminous, haunting, and unforgettable, The Age of Miracles is a coming-of-age story about a girl and her family dealing with the normal, everyday struggles while simultaneously experiencing an era of global uncertainty.
This is Thompson Walker?s first book. She began writing it when she still worked as a book editor. Born and raised in San Diego, Thompson Walker studied English and creative writing at UCLA. She is the recipient of the 2011 Sirenland Fellowship as well as a Bomb Magazine fiction prize.
This event, sponsored by the PCC English Division and Shatford Library, is free and open to the public. All faculty, students and staff are invited to come.
